☯ FIRST IMPRESSIONS ✹ NAME & BIRTH: Genji Shimada. Birthdate to be headcanon'd. ✹ VISUAL: Genji is hard to miss, unless he's intentionally making himself so. He stands at 5'8" and, at first glance, probably just looks like a straight up robot. It's downright impossible to catch him outside of his armor. If you DO manage to pull it off, he's not the prettiest of pictures. His body is heavily scarred after he survived an attempted murder, and he's got some tubes sticking out of him to assist his body's functions. See the anatomy post for more deets. ✹ FASHION: Genji isn't in the habit of wearing clothes much these days, being most comfortable when clad in his armor. If he wears clothing, it's for three reasons: he's going out in public and wants to avoid attention, he's been coerced into something by someone else, or, the rarest of all, he stole someone else's clothing for the fun of it. For the first option, he tends to default for covering, loose-fitting clothing that he can easily slip over his armor, like hoodies and baggy pants. ✹ DEMEANOR: Genji's personality depends much on his timeline. Pre-Zenyatta: Genji is a cold and angry person, in conflict with himself and the world around him, prone to pushing people away or lashing out at them. His pain, in every sense, makes him unpleasant to deal with in most situations. To anyone who manages to break through his defenses, he's more sullen, unsure about everything, including himself and the state of the relationships he holds with the people around him. It's difficult for him to imagine people who would want to be close to him, both for his attitude and for the state of his body. Post-Zenyatta (Default): After spending time with the omnic monk Tekartha Zenyatta, Genji is a much different person. He stands with an easy confidence and radiates the peaceful aura of someone who's come to terms with himself. He's calm and even-tempered, in control of himself, his emotions and reactions. He can sometimes come off as a bit stoic, and he's not the social butterfly he used to be, but he's more than open to company and getting to know others. Given how he's been helped in the past, he's always more than ready to help others in turn if it's possible. That said, he's not a passive person. If someone pushes him, or proves to be trouble, he's more than willing to engage and fend them off as necessary. In certain moods, he can also become something of a relentless tease to those he cares for. ✹ AURAL: Genji is voiced by Gaku Space; his voice can be heard here. Japanese is his first language, and his accent is pretty noticeable. His English, while fluent, ranges toward formal, and he seems a lot more comfortable speaking in his native language. ✹ OLFACTORY: Metal, mostly, because armor. Blood if he's recently been in a fight. If you get him comfortable enough to be out of his armor, light scents from his soap and shampoo, ranging toward the floral. Possibly an antiseptic sort of underscent if he had to have a check in with the good doctor recently. ✹ MENTAL INFORMATION: Genji has no real mental shields or training against telepathy to speak of. An invasion without consent will make him very irritable if he finds out, but he'll be more willing if asked, depending on the context. ✹ ABILITIES: Genji has been trained from a young age in ninjutsu, and is extremely capable in stealth and fighting with a blade. Seriously. Don't try him. He can deflect some ridiculous shit. He's also got great aim with his shuriken, and his supply of stars is built literally right into his arm. He could put Spider-Man to shame with his climbing skills. His augmentations allow him to jump while airborne to reach greater heights. He possesses a magical katana that allows him to summon a dragon spirit; he is capable of manipulating it at certain distances, but prefers to let the spirit inhabit him for a short time in order to boost his attack power. ☯ PLAYER INFORMATION ✹ BACKTAGGING: Absolutely acceptable! I'm something of a somewhat slow tagger myself. I'm in EST with a 5-day set schedule job (2:30PM-10:30PM) with exceptions for overtime or a changed shift here and there, so while I'll endeavor to tag a thread at least one every day, and possibly more on the weekends, sometimes work wipes me out and I can't muster the brain. I ask and thank you for your patience on this front. If I feel like a thread has reached an end I tend to let it drop. ✹ FOURTHWALLING: Sure if you want, but Genji will either dismiss it or chalk it up as being recognized from his work in Overwatch. ✹ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Genji used to be a playboy, but it's been a while since those days. That said, his reaction to physical affection and attraction all depends on the canon point he's taken from. If he just got his body? He's going to be avoiding that kind of thing like the plague, more out of his own conflict with his new physical form than anything else. If it's post-Zenyatta, he might be surprised by it, but more willing to accept. ✹ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Considering Genji comes from a fighting game, was being raised to become an assassin, and was part of an organization that fought robots all around the globe, he is more than up for a fight. I'm a-okay with threading fight scenes as well, though any super serious injuries (death, dismemberment/maiming, etc.) I would prefer to have run by me first, both so we can talk how to work it out with his unusual body and for the fact that I would vastly prefer not to be surprised with that kind of thing. ✹ RELATIONSHIPS: I'm only shipping Genji with guys, but come at me! I am a shipping fiend.
